Head coach Jim Harbaugh and GM Joe Hortiz have just wrapped up their first NFL Draft as the lead men in charge of the organization.

The Chargers made nine total selections, headlined by Joe Alt who was nabbed with the fifth overall pick. They also snagged WRs Ladd McConkey and Brenden Rice.

Shortly after the draft, Los Angeles expressed interest and met with the best available WR on the market.

Chargers News: Los Angeles Has Met With One of the Available Playmakers

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Chargers and WR Tyler Boyd met face-to-face this week in Los Angeles.

Even after picking two WRs in the NFL Draft, the Chargers are still looking into the veteran market. Earlier this offseason, they released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears.

With two bookend tackles in Alt and Rashawn Slater keeping QB Justin Herbert upright, they need to add more pass catchers.

Boyd is the best available option at WR by a wide margin. The 2016 second-round pick is a very smooth route runner who owns strong hands at the catch point. He can line up both inside and outside with ease.

In his eight-year career with the Cincinnati Bengals, Boyd has notched 513 receptions (713 targets) for 6,000 receiving yards with 31 touchdowns. In addition, he went over 1,000 yards twice.

If Boyd was signed by Los Angeles, he would become one of the best playmakers on the roster and step into a prominent role in 2024.

As Harbaugh continues to put his imprint on the roster, Boyd has emerged as an option.
