D'Angelo Russell Continues Bizarre Social Media Posts
By Jovan Alford
Veteran point guard D’Angelo Russell has given Los Angeles Lakers fans a lot to talk about this offseason, and that’s not necessarily a good thing.
This offseason, Russell has been in the sports headlines for his cryptic social media posts, and most recently, putting himself in the same bracket with Stephen Curry, who is a guaranteed Hall of Famer, and the greatest three-point shooter in NBA history.
Russell’s latest tweet invoking Curry had social media talking to the point that the Lakers point guard deleted the post. If you don’t remember what was said, let’s give you a little refresher.
D'Angelo Russell Continues Bizarre Online Antics
A Twitter user said a few days ago, “You guys realize Dlo gets hot like Curry did yesterday? Or should we just ignore the facts?”
Russell responded to the tweet with, “I humbly agree,” which sparked a lot of conversations and jokes.
Russell wasn’t done with his hoops commentary as he posted on Twitter, “Great conversation if you ask me, who’s effective off the dribble and C&S. Chef, myself, CJ, Dame. (insert slander here).
The Lakers point guard welcomed the potential slander that may come his way for putting himself in the same territory as Curry and Damian Lillard.
As you can imagine, fans didn’t take Russell seriously and posted jokes and memes. However, others took the time to rank the four players and bring up other guards such as Jamal Murray, Anfernee Simons, Kyrie Irving, and Devin Booker.
The Lakers hope Russell can be effective off the dribble and catch-and-shoot situations this coming season as they didn’t do anything to upgrade their roster this offseason. There will be pressure on the veteran point guard to be one of the top-4 scorers on the team in 2024-25.
