The Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks are already planning for the 2024-2025 NBA season after their years were cut short.

The Bucks hired Doc Rivers on Jan. 26 but that move didn't pay dividends. They went 17-19 with Rivers at the helm and were bounced by the Indiana Pacers in the first round.

As for the Lakers, they were sent home by the Denver Nuggets for the second straight year but this time they decided to part ways with their entire coaching staff, highlighted by firing Darvin Ham.

They have zeroed in on a few different candidates but Rivers recently took a shot at one of them.

Lakers News: Doc Rivers Took a Shot at JJ Redick

Rivers was a guest on the 'Stephen A. Smith Show' and they were discussing former NBA guard JJ Redick.

They showed a clip of Redick laying into Rivers on 'First Take' saying the veteran head coach never takes responsibility.

The 62-year-old responded to Redick by saying, "JJ Redick's best numbers of his career was under one coach and you’re looking at him. I'm the one who grabbed him out of Milwaukee and decided to start him. From that point on, his career took off"

Rivers is alluding to when he the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers and they traded for the former Duke standout in 2013, snagging him from the Milwaukee Bucks.

In four seasons with the Clippers from 2013-2016, Redick averaged 15.8 points and shot a career-best 44% from beyond the arc.

Rivers said that Redick was upset that the Clippers decided not to pay him in free agency and let him walk. Who knows if that's the reason but there's definitely some animosity.

Regardless, there is some tension from both sides and Rivers let it be known. The 39-year-old has emerged as a serious contender to snag the Lakers job but already has a rivalry with one of the most well-known coaches in the game.
