The Los Angeles Lakers have been a topic of discussion for months. That's what happens when you're a storied franchise and have one of the best players to touch the floor LeBron James on your roster.

The Lakers haven't made a bunch of moves this offseason. Their only additions came with JJ Redick becoming the head coach and then adding Dalton Knecht and Bronny James in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Bronny has been heavily discussed over the last couple of weeks since becoming a member of the Lakers. That comes with being the son of LeBron and being in Los Angeles.

Even though he's only a few games into his professional career, Redick sees some good traits in Bronny and makes a pretty surprising comparison for the 19-year-old.

Lakers News: JJ Redick Compares Bronny James to a Lockdown Defender

In an interview with "SiriusXMNBA NBA Radio" Redick raved about James. He spoke highly of his defensive tenacity and compared him to one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.

"I turned to one of our assistant coaches during the game and I said I think Lou Dort just single-handedly broke up the eighth possession of the game. Like his impact. You can't get into your offense sometimes. The shot clock winds down because of his ball pressure. He literally blows up entire plays because of that pressure. And I really believe this. Bronny eventually will be that guy," Redick said.

Earlier in the interview, Redick said that Bronny would spend some time in the NBA and G-League while he develops his offensive game but the Lakers are looking for defensive ball pressure right now from him.

The USC product has already showcased his ability to be an active and alert defender in Summer League.

For his coach to compare him to Oklahoma City's Lu Dort is high praise. Dort is one of the best on-ball defenders in the league. He is relentless when hounding ball handlers and will put his body on the line to make a winning basketball play.

This past season, he was only two points off from making the All-Defensive Second Team. Boston's Jrue Holiday narrowly edged him out with 36 points.

The fact that Redick is already comparing James to this kind of defender will catch some fans off guard but if he does develop into a player of this caliber, that would be a massive win for the Lakers organization.
