Rams Get Big Update on Injured Defender Just Before Week 5
By Jovan Alford
The Los Angeles Rams haven’t had the best luck with injuries as they’ve seen multiple players go on injured reserve through the first month of the regular season.
With these injuries, the Rams are 1-3 and looking to pick up a win at home against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, who might be missing a couple of their starting wide receivers. That said, the Rams’ defense is getting a key reinforcement back in the secondary, who might help them snap their losing streak.
According to Adam Grosbard of the Orange County Register, Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters they expect cornerback Darious Williams to play on Sunday.
The veteran cornerback said he felt good being back at practice, per Grosbard. Williams has been on injured reserve since the start of the regular season after he injured his hamstring at the beginning of training camp.
Without Williams on the field, the Rams started former fourth-round pick Cobie Durant, who was playing opposite Tre’Davious White. Durant has 12 combined tackles and a pass deflection in four games this season.
Durant has played well in pass coverage this season, boasting a 58.8 completion percentage allowed on targets and a 75.9 pass rating allowed when targeted.
Nevertheless, the Rams are excited to have Williams back on the field after signing him to a three-year, $22.5 million contract in free agency. The 31-year-old cornerback began his career with the Rams (2018-21) before spending the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
