The NFL Draft is officially less than a month away and for the first time since 2016, the Rams have a first-round selection.

GM Les Snead decided to give away first-round picks in the past to get some veteran talent into the building. With eyes on the future now, the Rams have begun looking at potential successors for QB Matthew Stafford.

Stafford is 36 years old and has dealt with some injuries over the past two seasons. Sean McVay would love to have a young quarterback in the wings ready to take over when they decide to move on from Stafford.

Rams fans should keep their eye on Michael Penix Jr. According to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, Los Angeles is a team to watch for the Washington product. "I think a potential sleeper team for Michael Penix is the Rams," Schultz said on an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.

Rams News: Jordan Schultz Names the Rams as a Sleeper Team for Michael Penix Jr.

Penix Jr. is an intriguing QB prospect in this year's draft class. The Florida native has some injury concerns that may be affecting his draft stock. He suffered two torn ACLs and two shoulder injuries at the University of Indiana before transferring to the University of Washington in 2022.

Penix Jr. developed into one of the best QBs in the nation during his tenure there. He has a strong throwing arm to all three levels on the field and owns pinpoint accuracy.

Across the past two seasons, he's thrown for 9,544 passing yards with 67 passing touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

He has all the tools needed to thrive at the next level and would be a great choice for the Rams. He wouldn't be asked to play right away, allowing him to learn from one of the best quarterbacks in the league and get coached up by McVay.

Who knows where Penix Jr. will end up in April's draft but the Rams have expressed interest.

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Rams have the eighth highest odds (+2000) to select Penix Jr. in the NFL Draft. If you want to take lock-in of these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and claim your sign-up bonus.
