The Los Angeles Rams will now have to replace one of the most dominant defenders in the history of the game.

Defensive tackle Aaron Donald took to social media to officially announce his retirement after 10 seasons in the NFL.

Rams News: Aaron Donald is Retiring from the NFL

This comes as a shocker to all fans around the league. Donald hinted at retiring after the Rams won Super Bowl LVI but they agreed to a three-year, $95 million extension with $65 million fully guaranteed in 2022.

Just two years after inking the deal, Donald has decided it was time to finally step away.

Since entering the league in 2014, Donald developed into one of the most impactful and ferocious defensive linemen in the NFL.

His resume is truly impeccable. Donald has three Defensive Player of the Year Awards, 10 Pro Bowl nods, and was a First-Team All-Pro Selection eight different times.

Additionally, Donald has the most sacks in the NFL since 2014 with 111. The next closest player is Khalil Mack at 101.5.

The 32-year-old consistently wreaked havoc in the backfield as a run defender and pass rusher. Donald has finished with double-digit sacks in six seasons which is extremely difficult to do as an interior rusher.

There is no replacing a player like Donald and he will go down as one of the best defensive players in NFL History. He's also a lock to become a first-ballot member of the NFL Hall of Fame in the future.

The Rams now have a tall task trying to replace Donald going forward.
