Shohei Ohtani Appears to Go Public With New Wife

Signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers wasn't the only major life event Shohei Ohtani experienced this offseason. He also took to Instagram during Spring Training to announce that he got married this offseason.

After making the announcement with a straightforward post that didn't reveal many details, we may finally know who it is that Ohtani got married to.

Dodgers Rumors: Who is Shohei Ohtani's Wife?

If the speculation is true that Ohtani is posing with his new wife in this photo, then he is married to Mamiko Tanaka.

Tanaka is a 27-year-old Japanese women's basketball player from Tokyo, Japan who recently announced her surprising retirement. The 2022-23 season was her final one in the WJBL, and the 5-foot-11 forward/center averaged 7.8 points and 6.0 rebounds in 24.0 minutes per game for Fujitsu RW.

Playing for the Dodgers will certainly put Ohtani in the limelight even more than he already experienced in Los Angeles, so it's no surprise that his marriage announcement was met with plenty of curiosity around who he got married to.

With Ohtani choosing to stay in L.A. likely in part due to its close proximity to Japan, maybe we'll see Tanaka making some guest appearances at Dodgers games this season.

And of course, maybe this speculation is all wrong, and maybe Ohtani has managed to do the nearly impossible in this day in age by keeping his personal life truly under wraps.
