Ever since LeBron James and Steph Curry joined forces on Team USA to win the gold medal in the Paris Olympics, basketball fans everywhere have been dreaming about uniting the two all-time greats on the same team. Their seamless fit on the basketball court and seemingly great relationship off the court understandably created plenty of speculation about them potentially teaming up in the NBA.

Making this happen is obviously a challenge. No team is going to willingly trade Steph Curry or LeBron James, regardless of their age and contract status. Both superstars signed new contracts this offseason, making it hard for them to do so via free agency. The only way something like this could occur is if one of the two requests a trade and demands to be moved to the other's team.

For now, that seems unlikely. However, Curry didn't rule it out. Speaking to the People magazine, the Warriors star said he hopes he gets more opportunities with LeBron in the future.

"Hopefully, there will be more experiences in the future, even if we're teammates or not."

Curry didn't exactly specify what that would look like. Curry will turn 37 and James will hit 40 in the middle of the 2024-25 season. They don't have too many years left in the league to join forces. Perhaps an improbable attempt to make Team USA again in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028? That would be unprecedented to have two players over 40 on the roster but considering that these two are the greatest players of their generations, it can't be ruled out.

The Lakers and the Warriors are both far from their heyday. Golden State didn't make the playoffs last year and Los Angeles was a first-round exit. Neither team made significant additions this offseason. They will likely be at a similar level next year, signaling that their championship window may be closed. If they want to stay relevant and play competitive basketball in the spring, they may have to find a way to wear the same jersey in the NBA.
