Rams Add Standout Defender in Latest Free Agency Prediction
The Los Angeles Rams are 6-6 on the year after picking up a 21-14 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 13. This team is currently the 10th seed in the NFC and has a 19% chance of making the postseason according to NFL.com.
This group is still focused on winning the remainder of their games this season and sneaking into the postseason. While that is happening, other teams have shifted their focus to the 2025 offseason.
Bleacher Report released an article discussing every team's weaknesses and also named one potential free agent target. In this projection, the Rams added cornerback D.J. Reed.
The Rams added Tre'davious White as a free agent but it didn't work out. They traded him to the Baltimore Ravens in November for a 2026 sixth-round pick. This team needs more difference makers in the secondary and Reed would fill in that void.
Reed has been with the New York Jets for the past three seasons and has played really sound football over there. Despite being listed at 5-foot-9, he plays bigger than his size and has sound awareness in coverage.
In 10 games this season, he has compiled 44 total tackles, nine pass deflections, and one sack. In pass defender, he has a 73.9 coverage grade per PFF with an 88.7 passer rating allowed. In his career, Reed has 48 pass breakups and six interceptions.
Reed would step in and give the Rams a consistent cornerback. They have a ferocious front four that is getting after the quarterback, so getting a quality player in the secondary would only elevate this defense.
The Rams will have $52 million in cap space, according to Spotrac so they'll have the funds to poach Reed if they want.
