Success comes with a price in the NFL and no one knows that better than Sean McVay. The Los Angeles Rams have been one of the league's best teams in recent years, resulting in several of McVay's coaches leaving L.A. to pursue bigger opportunities elsewhere.

The current offseason hasn't been an exception to the 39-year-old's ever-expanding coaching tree. 2024 offensive assistant and passing game specialist Nathan Scheelhaase just left town to join former Rams offensive coordinator and current Jaguars head coach Liam Coen in Jacksonville.

Fast forward to Monday, and it looks like another McVay disciple could be leaving the Golden State soon.

Rams News: Texans Hiring Nick Caley as Offensive Coordinator

NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Houston Texans are hiring Rams tight ends coach and passing game specialist Nick Caley as their new offensive coordinator. Pelissero added that the New York Jets and New England Patriots were also interested in the 42-year-old's services.

Caley began his NFL coaching career as an offensive assistant with the Patriots in 2016, so it isn't surprising that they had interest in him, too. He was promoted to tight ends coach in 2017, holding on to the position until he was hired by the Rams in the same capacity in 2023.

McVay added passing coordination duties to Caley's title in 2024, and it didn't take long for the latter to make an impact. The Rams had one of the NFL's better aerial attacks last season as they averaged 227.5 passing yards (10th), 10.6 yards per completion (10th), and passing touchdowns (T-12th).

Additionally, Caley's influence likely played a big role in the Rams' owning the third-best team receiving grade on Pro Football Focus.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of success Caley will have with Coen in Houston. The Texans boast a plethora of offensive playmakers, including the likes of quarterback C.J. Stroud, wideouts Nico Collins and Tank Dell, and running back Joe Mixon.

L.A. fans will have an opportunity to see Caley back in town soon. The NFL confirmed last month that the Rams will host the Texans at some point during the 2025 campaign.
