The Rams just got a relieving piece of injury news about starting TE Tyler Higbee, who was scarily removed from the victory over the Vikings after a strong start due to concerns about his chest.

According to new comments from Sean McVay on Tuesday, Higbee was spitting up blood Monday night, causing the need for a hospital visit. Despite the scare, he returned home to Los Angeles with the team and is expected to play against the Eagles on Sunday.

He had five catches for 58 yards in the first half during the win, looking like Matthew Stafford's most dangeous target despite lining up alongside Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. Should Higbee ultimately play against Philadelphia, he will give this offense a major boost.

Rams Expect TE Tyler Higbee to Play vs. Eagles in Divisional Round

The talented 32-year-old tight end was limited to three games in the regular season this year, catching just eight passes for 66 yards and a pair of TDs. He's a bonafide red-zone weapon who has averaged 10.2 yards per catch during his career, making it obvious that he's a valued member of the passing attack.

Philadelphia's defense took a major step forward in 2024, ranking first by a wide margin in opponent yards per pass (5.5). Los Angeles was on fire against another stout defense in Minnesota's, yet the Eagles represent a new test. A trio of Higbee, Kupp, and Nacua with Kyren Williams in the backfield represents a much more dangerous unit than any without a suitable backup tight end.

Colby Parkinson filled in for Higbee in the second half, notching two catches for 13 yards. He's an accomplished blocker yet struggles to separate in coverage. As a result, Higbee's skillset is a better fit for this particular matchup to keep the Eagles' secondary on its heels.

It's unlikely that Higbee is 100% on Sunday but if he can play, the Rams have a great chance to pull off the upset. FanDuel Sportsbook has them listed as 6.5-point underdogs with +240 odds on the moneyline in Philly.
