It is going to be a busy offseason for the Los Angeles Rams. Despite being one play away from taking down the eventual Super Bowl champions in the playoffs, the Rams will have to go through sweeping changes this offseason.
Whether those changes will involve Matthew Stafford still remains to be seen, but at the bare minimum, they will involve Cooper Kupp. The Rams are already actively shopping Kupp and considering the fact that they were only the 20th-best offense in the NFL last season, they are going to have to find a high-level replacement.
Matt Bowen of ESPN has a fascinating idea for who the Rams might target in free agency. In his list of top free agents and their best fits, Bowen argues for Keenan Allen as a good fit.
"In Sean McVay's offense -- which uses movement and alignment to get wide receivers free access off the ball -- Allen could operate as the No. 3 option out of the slot. "Matt Bowen, ESPN
While Allen is certainly not the player he once was when he was in Los Angeles with the Chargers, he is still a solid receiver. Even on the dysfunctional Bears offense that limited the upside of every playmaker, Allen was still able to put up 70 catches, 744 yards, and seven touchdowns in 15 games last season.
The 32-year-old wideout is not a WR1 or a WR2 at this stage of his career, but he is a reliable, competent veteran who adds a different wrinkle to the offense.
Allen had spent 11 years with the Chargers before getting traded to the Bears in the 2024 offseason. The former Pro Bowler has revealed his desire to play in Chicago or Los Angeles in the final years of his career. That gives the Rams a big advantage in a small pool of possible teams. Whether Les Snead and Sean McVay go the Allen route remains to be seen.
