The NBA Draft will forever change how we see LaVar Ball — whether we like it or not.

The man in question is LaVar Ball. He’s a smack-talking, attention-hoarding, two-points-per-game-in-college-averaging father of Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo Ball.

Many of his remarks stem from his unlimited confidence in Lonzo’s basketball ability.

It’s not rare for a father to be proud of his son and believe in his heart that they can do great things. But it’s the comments about his own basketball skills and decisions he has made as President and CEO of Big Baller Brand (BBB) that has drawn criticism.

Players such as John Wall and Channing Frye have said that players in the NBA would target Lonzo Ball. Former NBA MVP Charles Barkley has said that the pressure that LaVar applies to his son will be too much for Lonzo to live up to.

With regards to the draft, LaVar has been doing his best to speak it into existence that his son plays for the Lakers. It appears they may get their wish.

The question is now how much of an effect will all of the media attention LaVar receives effect not only Lonzo as a player, but the team as a whole.

The answer lies in the professionalism shown by Magic Johnson, Rob Pelinka, and Luke Walton.

Magic Johnson and his staff are so committed to making the Lakers a championship-caliber team, they will not let a player’s father hinder their success.

In addition, Lonzo has proven to be the exact opposite of his father. When it comes to the way he talks to the media. He is soft-spoken, says all the right things, and lets his play do the talking.

People worry about whether he is affected by the pressure his father puts on him.

All in all, Lavar Ball is just another celebrity. He’ll crack jokes with fans and try to sell Big Baller Brand clothes.
