The latest Lakers rumors have to do with Paul George and Gordon Hayward.

With a lot of their young core set, the next thing needing to be addressed from Lakers rumors is star power.

This season was the first time in decades that Los Angeles hasn’t produced an All-Star. Consequently, the team is closing the season far from any sort of playoff contention.

Overall, the goal for Magic Johnson and the new front office is to get the Lakers back on top. In early February, Johnson made a strong comment that the team needed a superstar to compete with the best in the league.

Grabbing one big name off of the market would be great, but there could be room for two. According to a report from NBC Sports, George has expressed interest in playing with Hayward.

While the comments seem to be directed towards Hayward coming to Indiana, others options outside of Los Angeles come up.

Per the report:

"If he makes an All-NBA team, Hayward might not hit the market at all. If he does become a free agent, the Celtics – with former Butler coach Brad Stevens – loom as a bigger threat to poach the forward."

Two star small forwards could be a lot for Los Angeles to handle. Considering that they’re also both starters with their current teams, that may cause problems.

However, if for some reason things don’t pan out with Paul George, Hayward speaking highly of the Lakers grooms curiosity. Specifically, Hayward talked about the fact that he likes what he sees from Brandon Ingram.

One of the second overall picks the Lakers have drafted recently, Ingram is the team’s future at small forward, with room for a star if the stars align.

George won’t be a free agent until after next season, while Hayward has an option in his contract after this year.
