Tyler Ennis shines as Lakers win against Spurs
By Keith Rivas
One of the only positives the Lakers have from another win is the play of Tyler Ennis.
Doing well down the stretch with potential lottery positioning on the line isn’t a great idea. Los Angeles can’t afford to strike out in the draft, and doing good now puts that at risk.
Not only is being good when you don’t need to be a bad idea, it’s the worst idea. Despite all of that, Tyler Ennis was a great highlight to watch.
The former first round pick played the most minutes of anyone on either team, with 39. In that time on the floor, he collected 19 points and six assists along with the victory.
Ennis was acquired at the trade deadline and is starting to show what he can really do. Without D’Angelo Russell, the question for the long Lakers becomes more complicated.

Do they trust Russell long term or go to other options at point guard?
While Ennis is a decent back up, that question will likely be answered at the upcoming draft. But until then, the Lakers don’t seem like they’re in bad hands.
Averaging less than four points this season, Ennis’ outburst should surprise folks even more. As the starting point guard, Ennis didn’t hold anything back, even when San Antonio had their stars in.
Additionally, all Lakers starters were in double digits with the exception of Brandon Ingram. The rookie had just eight points. David Nwaba dropped ten of his own from off the bench as well.
One week remains in their regular season, with four games to show for it. They’ll play the Kings, Timberwolves, and Pelicans at home before travelling to Golden State.
The good news there is that they could end the Warriors’ season on a sour note.

Possibly losing ground in the lottery race to the bottom isn’t good news, though.
