Lakers Rumors: Possible Trade Packages for D’Angelo Russell
By Jason Reed
In what is hands down the biggest blockbuster of these deals, we would see Joel Embiid head to Los Angeles to play alongside Brandon Ingram and potentially Lonzo Ball. While this deal may be very unlikely if 2K says it could happen then hey, anything could happen. This deal would give the Lakers such a dominant young core of Ball, Embiid, Ingram, and Randle.
The only bad thing about this deal would the Lakers would be very thin at guard. They do have Jordan Clarkson who could shift over to the 2, but they still would be thin. However, the Lakers do own the Rockets first round selection, so they could select another guard if they were anticipating this deal.

The Lakers may be getting an injury prone Embiid, but he is nothing short of dominant when he is on the court. He would undoubtedly be the face of the Lakers alongside Ball in the future years. Averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game Embiid has shown that he is nothing short of dominant at the NBA level.
The Lakers also would not be losing out on a draft pick next season. The way this deal works, is the Lakers and 76ers are effectively allowing the course of the season to decide who gets what pick.
Whichever team has the higher pick the 76ers get with the worse pick being the Lakers. This would potentially allow the Lakers to still have a late lottery pick in 2018, which is very promising.
While this deal seemingly is the most unlikely because Embiid seems to be the superstar for Philadelphia’s future, his injury history may be adding question marks into the equation. The 76ers may instead look for D’Angelo Russell to lead the way, especially with Jahlil Okafor in the mix.

Overall, while it may not be the first move on Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka’s radar, trading D’Angelo Russel certainly is part of the justifiable Lakers rumors. Sooner or later, we may see these Lakers rumors come to fruition.
