Pretty identical to the Kemba Walker deal, the Lakers here would be opting to go with an established star in Mike Conley instead of taking the risks that come with the draft. In this deal, the Lakers owned the second overall selection, flipping to the Grizzlies with some role players to secure the man with the biggest contract in the NBA.

More from Lakers Rumors

This deal would likely be the result of buyers remorse, as perhaps the Grizzlies would want to avoid paying Mike Conley that much money for that long. Sure, Timofey Mozgov and Jordan Clarkson have the same impact, but the Grizzlies could release Mozgov and eat his salary or attempt to trade him.

Regardless, this deal would go down if the Grizzlies had their eyes set on Lonzo Ball and the play making ability he could bring to Memphis. Conley may be in the prime of his career, but the Grizzlies may be looking to extend their luck as a draft pick would have a much longer impact on the organization.

Conley would have a very warm welcome in Los Angeles, and would be the go to superstar the team needs.

Unlike Walker, where perhaps he could play a role to someone else, Conley would be the guy. If the Lakers players develop as they should, they could have a deadly big three of Conley, Russell, and Ingram.

The 29-year-old point guard is in the prime of his career and is only getting better. Put him alongside D’Angelo Russell in the back court and we will see sparks flying in Los Angeles.

Overall, these Lakers rumors are still less likely than the Lakers holding on to their pick and gunning after Lonzo Ball. However, it is always fun to play what if, and that is exactly what these Lakers rumors are doing.
