Final Thoughts.

Edwin Rios, Carlos Rincon, and Alex Verdugo are other names to keep an eye on as the season progresses for the Dodgers. Each of these position players has exciting upside and is performing well on the season.

Rincon sports a 1.104 OPS in A-ball Great Lakes, while Edwin Rios and his .333 batting average might provide insurance should anything happen to Justin Turner at third base.

Verdugo, a bright spot for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, may be the next man up in center field if Joc Pederson’s offense doesn’t improve soon. Verdugo hits at every level, and his .345 batting average for AAA Oklahoma City may force the issue sooner rather than later.

But first things first – Bellinger and Dickson are the immediate call-ups that can impact the club offensively. Bellinger has major league lineage and a special bat; Dickson just keeps hitting, and at 27 years old is the type of player the organization has loved to utilize mid-season.

Most importantly, solutions are needed for the pitching staff. That’s why Trevor Oaks and Mitchell White might be names heard over the Dodger Stadium loudspeakers this summer, or sooner. Both pitchers have poise and a track record of domination – and hey, anything is an improvement over the bottom half of the 2017 Dodgers’ rotation.

Next: Trade Packages for Adrian Gonzalez

While calls for the Dodgers to make trades are commonplace, the answer for general manager Farhan Zaidi and president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman might best be addressed in-house.
