1. Blake Griffin

2017-18 Record with Griffin: 33-49 (+7 wins)

Despite being the least likely to see himself in purple and gold out of these three players, Blake Griffin made the most immediate impact on the franchise. Without a true need for a power forward, already having Larry Nance Jr and Julius Randle, Blake Griffin to the Lakers seems highly unlikely. However, Griffin’s name has been tied to the Lakers and perhaps rightfully so.

More from Lakers Rumors

While Griffin alone did not turn the team around into playoff contenders or necessarily make the team good right away, it did have a far bigger impact that Ball and George. Four more wins may not seem like a huge deal, for a team that is struggling to win 25 games it is massive.

Slotting Blake Griffin at the starting power forward spot allowed Julius Randle to come off the bench as one of the best sixth men in the league. In fact, Larry Nance Jr saw more time at small forward than he did at power forward, actually boosting his overall from 78 to 80.

With a player option with the Clippers and yet another disappointing playoff run because of injury, the time may be up for Griffin. Instead of traveling across the country in search of a new home, Griffin’s new home may still be in LA.

While he did not turn the franchise around alone, Griffin did put up solid numbers and in a real world setting would serve as the perfect leader. Averaging 18.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game would only be icing on the cake on top of Griffin’s veteran leadership.
