Mario Williams

Mario Williams was once one of the most menacing forces in all of football. Being the first overall selection in the 2006 NFL Draft, Williams has put together a fairly good resume in his time in the NFL. Going to four Pro Bowls and winning one All-Pro honors, Williams was once one of the best defensive ends in all of the league.

More from Los Angeles Chargers

In 2014, which was Williams best year in the league, he posted 42 combined tackles with 14.5 sacks. However, in the last two season’s Williams has struggled, only posting 1.5 sacks in five games started last season for the Miami Dolphins.

Age certainly has caught up to Williams, causing the Dolphins to release him back in February. While Williams is not longer the player he once was with the Buffalo Bills, he could still be a viable asset for the Chargers and would fit nicely in the Chargers pass rush scheme.

Joining superstar Joey Bosa and solid rusher Corey Luiget, Williams would give the Chargers a nice three headed monster to attack opposing quarterbacks.

This would be perfect for Williams, opposing offensive lines already will have their hands full with Bosa and Luiget, which would allow Williams more reign to bring his natural football talent to the table.

This is an instance where Williams would help the Chargers, but more importantly, the Chargers would help Williams. This is a win-win for both parties, and would be an interesting move for Los Angeles.

Overall, considering the latest Chargers rumors, the team looks primed for a great run in 2017. With a few small holes to fill, Los Angeles should now turn their focus to the free agent market.
