3. The Chargers will make the playoffs as a Wild Card

Okay, this one comes with some optimism being a Chargers fan, I get it. Playing in the extremely tough AFC West will be a challenge for Los Angeles, however, in a new city, under a new coach, the Chargers will get the job done. This may be laughable now with the Chargers having nine combined wins in the last two seasons, but it is very doable.

In fact, I would go out on a limb and say that the Chargers would undoubtedly be a playoff team if they played in any division besides the AFC West. The only other division’s that would pose this much of a challenge would be the NFC East and maybe the AFC North. Put the Chargers in the AFC south and they would win the division, put them in any other division and they would be a Wild Card.

More from Los Angeles Chargers

The AFC West is great from top to bottom, that is what makes this path to a Wild Card so much more difficult. They have to play three winning teams a combined six times, and could easily go 0-6. However, I think with this revamp in the organization they will thrive.

I thoroughly believe the team will take one game from each team, going 3-3 in their division. Wins against the Dolphins, Eagles, Browns, Jaguars, Jets, and Bills will raise them to nine wins. Add in toss-ups against the Redskins and Giants and all of a sudden, if everything goes right, this team is 11-5.

The great part about playing in this division too is that the other teams have to play each other. The Broncos, Chiefs, and Raiders will all beat each other, causing no team to have an amazing record. Coming in a 9-7 could be enough for the Chargers to make the playoffs.

Overall, these predictions may be bold, but they are definitely doable. As the season gets closer, and the Chargers rumors continue to circulate, the Chargers making the playoffs may become more believable.
