Paul George

I can already hear the outrage from Laker fans. I know, I know, Paul George is the most desired target for the Los Angeles Lakers, and saying that the Lakers should not pursue him may upset some die-hard fans. However, if every single player on the roster can be moved at any given time, what makes you think they would move them for another small forward?

Brandon Ingram is the only young player guaranteed to remain on the Los Angeles Lakers, so I cannot see the Lakers going out and getting a guy that would only force him to the bench. Granted, Paul George is a great talent and would make the Lakers better than Ingram does, but with Magic Johnson’s comments, it just seems crazy to go out and get George.

More from Lakers Rumors

The argument can be made that George would go back to shooting guard to make room on this Lakers roster. That is a very viable argument, as George did see time at the shooting guard position earlier in his career. However, if the Lakers do go with the playmaking Lonzo Ball in the draft, moving Russell over to the shooting guard, even that move would make little sense.

It is quite clear, the Lakers should steer clear of George and spend their superstar money elsewhere. Bringing in George would only create a cluster, and although they could trade their young stars, they would be better suited to keep them.

Saving the money on George could then lead to the team bringing in a star like DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins is a free agent after this season and has shown previous interest in the Lakers. The Lakers have always thrived with a dominant big man, so this could be their route.

Overall, these Lakers rumors may not be the most appealing to Laker fans. Everyone wants to see George head to Los Angeles, but with Ingram being untouchable, it may be best if that doesn’t happen.
