David Nwaba talks about who he patterns his game after in current Lakers news.

You ask in this Lakers news who does he pattern his game after? Well, it is after a defensive legend and also a rival to the Lakers.

David Nwaba patterns his game after defensive great Bruce Bowen. This is excellent since the Lakers need a player with a defensive mindset. Nwaba could even be the Lakers leader on defense with the energy he plays with.

Also, he is physical and creates plays off of his hustling plays. Nwaba is like the energizer bunny when he is playing. This something LA needs if they expect to win consistently.

So far the only main notable difference between Bowen and Nwaba is Bowen won NBA Championships. Bowen even won a few individual accolades for his offensive skills along with his defensive prowess.

According to NBA.com Bowen is on multiple lists setting records all-time for the San Antonio Spurs.  For example, he is on the Spurs all-time list with 1,632 three point shots attempted. Additionally, he is fourth on the list of blocks in the playoffs with 58.

The game of David Nwaba is similar to Bowen in the defensive aspect. However, what they have in common is that their offense compliments their defense tremendously well. Nwaba, in his short span of games played, averaged 6 points and 3 rebounds. I want to inform you all, don’t let the statistics deceive you.

One aspect of his game he doesn’t receive enough credit for is due to to the factor they don’t keep stats for it as well. As I mentioned earlier he isn’t afraid to get down and dirty and fight on the hustle plays. He creates play when he competes on the hustle plays.

LA has sent him back and forth from the D-League to the Lakers professional team. Therefore he has been developing. Maybe they are preparing him for the future of the team and is his a crucial piece in the story.

Defense, as everyone knows, win championships. Nwaba would be the player who can lead the Lakers defensively. He could be the start to a defense-minded team first with outstanding offensive skills.

Nwaba and Bowen have the same attitude of winning and playing team basketball. Their game is similar, yet so different.
