The latest Lakers draft news addresses the team’s possible focus after a blockbuster trade between Boston and Philadelphia.

It seemed, for a moment, that Los Angeles was ready to do everything in its power to get the first pick. Following a very successful workout, Magic Johnson was reportedly ready to go all in on Markelle Fultz.

There’s little question that his game will translate well at the next level. Obviously, room for doubt comes with the territory of being the potential first overall pick.

It’s easy to find the holes in scouting when top picks are either draft busts on the court or never reach their full potential because of the fact that they’re injury prone.

Fultz doesn’t seem to fall into either one of those boxes.

With reports of the Celtics and 76ers making a trade for the first pick, it’s important to know where the Lakers stand. Given that Los Angeles will pick second for the third consecutive summer, it’s a big decision for the franchise.

Some believe that Josh Jackson is the right fit, while others are still stuck on Lonzo Ball. With Jackson, the Lakers would definitely be getting a versatile, two way player. Not to mention that the former Kansas phenom can play multiple positions.

Additionally, Jackson could fit well with cornerstone player Brandon Ingram. Depending on how the chemistry plays out after the draft, LA could have two of the best forwards in the game within a few seasons.

But the reason that Fox is still the best player has little to do with Jackson. Fox is the head over heels better choice when compared to Ball because of a lack of drama and a sense of getting things done in his rookie year.
