SG. Dion Waiters

This is not the first time Dion Waiters has been mentioned within the Lakers rumors. With Lakers GM Rob Pelinka serving as his agent, Waiters very well may be tempted to join the purple and gold in the new regime. The future looks very bright for the Los Angeles Lakers, and adding in a 25-year-old Waiters would only add to this hype.

More from Lakers Rumors

Waiters quietly had an impressive year while on the court for the Miami Heat last season. In 46 games played Waiters averaged 15.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. As an unrestricted free agent with no Bird Rights, the Lakers can easily snag Waiters from the heat to be their starting shooting guard.

The numbers that Waiters produce is exactly what the Lakers need at shooting guard. With Ball now in the fray, he needs as many scoring targets as conceivable. Throw Waiters in the mix with Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle, and Brook Lopez and Ball now has four viable targets to score.

Waiters is great from beyond the arc, shooting just under 40 percent last season. That will serve huge dividends for the Lakers with Ball, as he can drive and kick the rock out to a wide open Waiters.

Quite frankly, Waiters seems like the perfect fit in Los Angeles. Although he may cost the team somewhere eight million a season, his ties with Rob Pelinka and his youth makes this a perfect fit for both parties.

Overall, the Lakers are going to have to do something to address this lack of depth in their backcourt Lucky for them, they have three great targets they can turn to.
