Dodgers Rumors: Possible trades using prospects for another star
By Jason Reed
You may hate this deal, and quite frankly, I would not blame you. On the surface, Sonny Gray’s stat line is not the best and Gavin Lux was the team’s first-round pick in 2016. However, this risk would be worth it for the Dodgers and the while the cost may seem too hefty, in reality, it wouldn’t hurt LA.

Los Angeles already has their shortstop of the future in Corey Seager. Sure, long term plans may be to move him to third base, but Justin Turner is now under contract for four more seasons. Lux does have a lot of potential, yes, but he is being blocked at the big league level.
As for Sterling Heredia, he was an international signing for the Dodgers in 2015. Heredia is the 14th ranked prospect in the Dodgers’ system, with the potential to crack the top 100 in the near future.
Gray’s ERA may be up at the 4.00 mark, but that is not a fair representation of his worth. We all saw how good Gray could be in 2015 when he finished third in Cy Young voting with a 2.73 ERA and a 14-7 record.
Toss in a solid bullpen arm in Daniel Coulombe and this deal would be great for the Dodgers. Coulombe has a 2.15 ERA in 34 appearances this season. Overall, this trade resembles the Dansby Swanson-Shelby Miller trade in 2016, although that trade was a disaster.

Until the Dodgers make that move that we are all anticipating these Dodgers rumors will continue to swirl. With the farm system stacked, a deal can easily be reached.
