Lakers Rumors: Ranking how each rumored target would fit in LA
By Jason Reed
1. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Although Caldwell-Pope may have missed out on a max deal with the Pistons after they acquired Avery Bradley from the Celtics, he still can have a productive free agency signing. Caldwell-Pope has just recently emerged as a target for the Los Angeles Lakers. With D’Angelo Russell out of the mix the Lakers are not lacking some production, with Caldwell-Pope being the answer.
Last season the young Pistons shooting guard averaged 13.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. With next season being only his fifth in the league, Caldwell-Pope arguably has not come close to his ceiling and alongside Lonzo Ball next season could see his points per game jump up to around 18-19.

Although he may be a bit expensive, which may not be what the Lakers want at this point in time, his production for the present and the future would be huge for LA. Imagine Caldwell-Pope alongside Paul George, if Ball progresses into the distributor he can be they could be one of the best scoring duos in the NBA.
He’s young, he’s good, and he fits the mold the Lakers are currently running with. Los Angeles wants to surround Ball with as many weapons as they can, Caldwell-Pope would be a great weapon for next season and in the coming future. This will play a key part in Ball’s development.
Overall, the best move would be to bring in Caldwell-Pope, moving Clarkson over to the better-suited point guard position.
