Lakers Rumors: Possible trade targets before the season begins
By Jason Reed
Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis
This trade is pretty crazy, I understand. However, we did take to our twitter account and post a poll if fans would want to see this trade happen, and much to our surprise, many did.
As you can see by the tweet, the deal would include sending Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Luol Deng and a future first round pick. While this does seem intimidating on what the team is giving up, quite frankly, it would only make the team better.

Los Angeles has been shopping Clarkson and Deng for quite some time now due to their fairly large contracts. Randle has been a topic of discussion as well as he holds the most trade bait that is not untouchable. Add in a future first round pick, which we would assume would be high after this trade, and the Knicks are getting good pieces and the Lakers get a star.
Yes, Anthony’s contract is massive, but he can opt to terminate his contract after this season. With the hopes of Paul George coming to Los Angeles, chances are Melo would be more than happy to do that to chase a ring.
The Lakers are getting significantly better with this deal and they are taking in two million dollars less. It is a win-win.
This would be the perfect bargaining chip to bring Paul George to Los Angeles. George wants to win a ring, we all know that. With Anthony, Porzingis, Ball and Ingram all in Los Angeles George would be very intrigued.

While the bulk of the Lakers rumors may have to do with the team signing a player, we may very well see a trade happen before the start of the season. Regardless of the path, the team has to do something to fill voids for next season.
