Fans of the Los Angeles Chargers are no strangers to bad news regarding the team. Yesterday, more bad news struck the city of Los Angeles.

The off-season pain just continues for the Chargers. After news that Mike Williams will most likely miss games in the regular season, Forrest Lamp- the rookie guard selected in the most recent draft by the Chargers- tore his ACL at training camp this Wednesday.

So far, the news is that it was a non-contact injury sustained while running a run-blocking play in standard drills. While the injury isn’t an infrequent one, it is looking like it will keep him out for his rookie season.

The Chargers have been subject to an overwhelming amount of injuries over the past few years but as it stands right now, the team may be without their first two draft picks in the 2017 season before the pre-season even starts. Due to the tremendous WR depth, the potential season long loss of first-round pick Mike Williams was tolerable; but the loss of the best O-lineman in the 2017 rookie class and potentially the team is a little harder to swallow.

More from Los Angeles Chargers

This undoubtedly puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the other rookie, Dan Feeney, who will likely be spending the rest of training camp trying to pick up the left guard position. He will now have to play even harder now that it is up to him and free agent acquisition, Russell Okung, to improve the line that played horrendously last season.

Lamp was obviously the centerpiece to this reconstructed line in Los Angeles. The Chargers offensive line has been historically bad the past several seasons, with this offseason proving to be a huge upgrade years prior.

Yet still, in typical Chargers fashion, bad luck struck the team once more. Los Angeles has to be one of the most talented teams in football, yet for some reason, can never piece it together with all the talent on the field at once. Lamp’s season ending injury is just a painful reminder of that for Charger fans.

Next: Predicting the Chargers record

Hopefully, this loss isn’t an indicator for the rest of the season but as it stands right now, the Chargers will have to work hard to overcome the loss of the biggest difference makers that they brought in this off-season. All the organization can do is hope that this is the last time the injury bug strikes this season or else the first season in LA could be a painful one for the Chargers.
