Clippers News: Team might be better off without Chris Paul
By Keith Rivas
The latest Clippers news is about why it might’ve been for the best that Chris Paul leave town.
After the blockbuster trade that sent Chris Paul to Houston earlier this summer, legitimate questions began to rise about whether or not the Clippers would survive.
Over the last couple of season, Los Angeles has struggled in the postseason. Despite a strong regular season more often than not, the playoffs haven’t shown us the same team by any means.
It took a lot for them to be the team to defeat the Golden State Warriors in 2014-15. A seven game thriller, Los Angeles looked like it was ready to run to the top. But that was the same season that they blew a 3-1 lead in the very next round.
Ironically, that was against Houston.
Chris Paul now joins James Harden with the hope of becoming the best back court in the league. The move will certainly make the playoffs more interesting, as Minnesota has also thrown themselves in the mix by acquiring Jimmy Butler and others.

As for Los Angeles, they are going to be depending a lot on the guards they received as part of the Paul trade. Guys like Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams bring a much different offensive style with them.
It’s not that their game is bad, but when talking overall rating, it’s hard for anyone in the league to be better at their position than Chris Paul. However, head coach Doc Rivers even said this summer that the ball movement will be better with the new guys in town.
WIlliams is a proven sixth man of the year player nearly every season. That replaces the similar game of Jamal Crawford, who’s now in Minnesota after being dealt in the off-season. As for starters and defense, Beverley makes a great case as the redemption kind of guy.
He’s tough, can give other teams hell on defense, and has enough in the tank to orchestrate some offensive magic. They’ll also be trusting Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan to carry the torch as the only remaining starters from a year ago.
