The LA Rams start the pre-season 1-0 after taking down the Dallas Cowboys.

After making some interesting moves this summer, including the acquisition of solid receiver Sammy Watkins from Buffalo, the Rams made their pre-season debut for 2017.

It’s been a whole year since their first time back in the Coliseum since the 90’s, and what a ride it has been. Not long ago, the talk was all about how top draft pick Jared Goff could transform Los Angeles and take it as his own.

Instead, his rookie campaign was too many what-if scenarios and he didn’t get a starting shot until way too late. This time around, he didn’t hesitate to get the Rams in scoring position and ended the drive with a connection to Cooper Kupp, who scored on a fumble recovery.

Another Cooper shined in the game, but for the other team. Dallas got a strong showing from quarterback Cooper Rush, who got the team their lone taste of the end zone.

For the Rams to make this year a completely different story, there are many things they’ll have to battle. None of them offer a more intriguing fight than the effort to find and establish their true identity and not lose it to the now-Los Angeles Chargers.

Whatever factors you want to consider outside of 60 minutes each Sunday is up to you. Even though it is just pre-season, and the games won’t mean anything in a few weeks in the win/loss column, it offers some strong hope for a starved fan base.

New head coach Sean McVay had a strong showing from the sideline as well. He guided the Rams to 271 yards of offense and a win. At the end of the day, it’s winning and losing that’ll ultimately determine the direction of the franchise.

Things look like they’re off to a good start in the post-Jeff Fisher era. Then again, it’s important to keep in mind that the Cowboys didn’t get action from their key guys because of it being pre-season.

If the Rams can still squeeze out a win when the first team is against them, then we can start the conversation about a possibly playoff berth and change of direction. But for the moment, let’s enjoy the fact that they got the win.
