Fantasy Football: The five best Chargers to target this season
By Jason Elbaum
The best fantasy option on the Los Angeles Chargers is without a doubt running back Melvin Gordon. In just his second season in the league, Gordon had a breakout season and emerged as an elite fantasy running back, totaling 997 yards and 10 touchdowns on 254 carries.

He would have had an even more impressive season had he not gone down with a hip injury in Week 14 that ended his season. He dominated opposing defenses at times, averaging two yards after contact, which was good enough for 16th in the NFL.
With no real threat to his starting job at this point in time, Gordon looks poised for another huge season as the Chargers lead running back. He ranked ninth among running backs in receiving yards last season with 419, which is a trait that young running backs tend to develop later in their careers.
It’s clear that Melvin Gordon’s best seasons are ahead of him, making him a candidate to be drafted inside the top five of your fantasy league’s draft. He is even more valuable in a keeper league if you consider Philip Rivers’ time with the Chargers dwindling and a potential turn toward a run-heavy offense looming
