The latest Lakers rumors signal that former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammed may be interested in joining LA.

Per Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, former Timberwolves small forward Shabazz Muhammed may be interested in joining the Lakers. According to the Lakers rumors, Muhammed is intent on playing for his former agent, Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka.

LA needs to look no further for their reserve small forward. Muhammed is the guy they should sign if he wants to play and come back home. LA was home to him during his college years playing for the UCLA Bruins.

Shabazz understands the game defensively and Larry Nance Jr. mentioned the team needs to work on improving their defense. In an interview with Mike Bresnahan, Nance boldly proclaimed that the Lakers would not have the worst defense in the league.

They made an improvement in acquiring Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. They would have another defensive presence in the back court in Muhammed if they can attract him to LA.

Additionally, his offense compliments his game and has improved since he has been in the league. If these Lakers rumors come to fruition they can have a possible sixth man of the year candidate on their hands. Muhammed’s defensive mindset would fit in perfectly off the Lakers bench.

LA has players who are offense first, who are defense first, as well as balanced players. Muhammed would be the player the Lakers need and also the team he needs to excel his game even more. He consistently scores at least 20 points a game.

Scoring from the charity stripe is decent, yet he struggles from beyond the arc. Muhammed earns his points by scoring in the paint off dribble drives and screens. Also, it would benefit both parties involved in the signing.

Muhammed signing as a free agent will save money on a player who competes for a starting role. Although he won’t see the same team success as he would have in Minnesota this year, LA is the perfect place to prove his worth next season.

Muhammed can guard the two or three and is good on offense as a small forward since his game reflects that. His game reflects him driving to the basket, cutting without the ball, and screens.
