Lakers Rumors: If LA gets Westbrook, possible trade returns for Lonzo Ball
By Jason Reed
While this deal may be the least interesting on paper out of the three, acquiring a dominant center may just be the best route for the Lakers. Honestly, Davis would fit this mold much better, but adding Marc Gasol would also likely lead to an NBA Championship.
The Memphis Grizzlies has a massive payroll, and with no signs of winning anytime soon, the team may look to sell both Gasol and Mike Conley. If Memphis were to sell Conley to a contender, the door opens at point guard for Ball.

In a way, this deal would be coming full circle. The Lakers traded the draft rights to Marc Gasol to Minnesota back in 2007 for his brother, Pau Gasol. That move was to give Kobe Bryant the tools he needed for another championship run. Here, the Lakers are again trading a young talent that could become a star for a dominant big man, with the last name Gasol, with intents of bringing home a ring.
Gasol would actually fit in nicely with Westbrook and James. He would not demand the ball, like Daivs might, instead he would continue playing lock down defense while cleaning up the class.
If Gasol brought 18 points and seven rebounds to the table, along with his defense, it would be a huge win for the Lakers.
While the prospects of Butler and Davis may be more intriguing, Gasol may be the best fit for this super team. Now, is he worth Lonzo Ball? Well, the answer to that question will be more clear after his rookie campaign.

Overall, I personally hope that the Lakers do not pull the trigger on any deal of this nature. However, if they did need to make room for Russell Westbrook, they could add some solid talent.
