Chargers vs Broncos: Five players to watch for on Monday Night
By Jason Reed
LAC: LE Joey Bosa
Being a Charger fan myself, I cannot help but love Joey Bosa. Despite the frustrations with his rookie contract and the arrogance he sometimes possesses, Bosa can definitely play some football. The left end out of the Ohio State University was crowned the 2016 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year despite only playing in 12 games.
In those 12 games, however, Bosa more than made his presence known. The rookie recorded 41 total tackles, 10.5 of which were sacks. If everything goes right and Bosa remains healthy, the second year standout could easily average one sack per game in 2017.

Alongside Melvin Ingram and Corey Luiget, Bosa is one-third of a menacing front line for the Los Angeles Chargers. Bosa is easily the biggest area of emphasis, and should he play as he is capable of, the Broncos offense will have a very hard time scoring the football. Sure, their own defense will keep them in it, but they can’t win if they can’t score.
It all comes down to whether or not they can stop the run game. Like previously mentioned, if Bolles can stop Ingram then the Broncos can double Bosa.
However, if the Chargers begin to chip away at that Denver offensive line, it may be a slippery slope that the team cannot recover from.
Bosa will either shine and be the player of the game, or be completely shut out in week one. However with all things considered, football fans should expect Bosa to light up the Broncos and give the most dominant defensive performance of week one.
Overall, the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos week one Monday Night Football matchup is very intriguing. While the favorite may be the Broncos, this game is going to be a lot closer than many people will expect.
