Nightmare slump continues for Dodgers
By Jamaal Artis
Things have not been going well for the LA Dodgers lately.
They had Clayton Kershaw on the mound their ace, surely he could put the Los Angeles Dodgers on his back and stop their longest losing streak of the year. After three batters the air was taken out the stadium and the game already was lost.
The Dodgers lost their seventh game in a row this time to the Colorado Rockies another possible playoff opponent in October. Kershaw gave up three hits to the Rockies first three batters the last one a 413 foot home run to Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado.
Kershaw would scuffle for the just 3.2 innings coming out of the game after only 86 pitches giving up four runs on six hits and three walks. It was his shortest start of the year and it doomed the team to it’s 12th loss in 13 games.

The loss meant the idle Arizona Diamondbacks were now just 10 games behind the Dodgers in the National League West, down from 20.5 two weeks ago.
Kershaw showed his emotions when manger Dave Roberts took him out, flinging his glove at the dugout wall and kicking a container about as far Arenado’s home run.
Who can blame him thanks to the Dodgers offense lately Kershaw probably had to throw a perfect game to win. The Dodgers scored one run for the third consecutive game and have been out scored 25-3 over their last 36 innings.
The Dodgers putrid play is certainly consistent for the second consecutive game utility superstar Chris Taylor made an error and got thrown out as a base runner, catcher Yasmani Grandal allowed another passed ball, and the bullpen asked to keep the game close fell apart giving up five runs.
Most Dodgers fans are probably wondering if the Dodgers will ever win another game, it feels less and less likely that they will get back to the pace that had them knocking on the all-time record of 116 wins. There are some glimmers of hope that the Dodgers will right the ship.
For fans panicking if a place in October is in jeopardy they should stop, the Dodgers have to just win one game and they’re in the playoffs.
Those few who stayed in the stadium witnessed pitching prospect Walker Buehler make his major league debut, the rookie went two scoreless innings striking out two. Corey Seager probably the Dodgers best hitter will return to the lineup Friday night, his absence should boost the offense.
