Los Angeles Chargers: Defense will have to lead team to victory

After a heartbreaking loss on a blocked field goal to the Denver Broncos, the Los Angeles Chargers host the Miami Dolphins in their season debut in week two.

The Los Angeles Chargers struggled in week one, yet they showed plenty of resiliency and fight in them. Their offense seemed to be clicking in the second half and their defense started to come around then as well.

Against the Dolphins the Los Angeles Chargers entire team will need to come around for the entire game. They must be present and not absent.

For LA their defense figured things out too late in their opening loss to the Denver Broncos. They are looking to change that in their home opener when they face the Dolphins.

This game won’t be easy for the Chargers as well. This is because the Dolphins had their bye week in week one. This was because of the storms that took place in Florida last week. Needless to say, they have had time to prepare and watch film. Therefore the Chargers need to be wise in all they do.

Their offense was okay but is much better than what everyone saw on Monday night. One reason their offense struggled is that their offensive line is all new. Hence, if they expect to win, on offense they need to run the ball to open up their brilliant passing attack.

Melvin Gordon was held to 54 rushing yards and he is capable of so much more. Despite breaking out a 21-yard run on the Chargers first play of the game, Gordon didn’t start to find his rhythm until late.

The Los Angeles Chargers showed up a little too late in Denver. Now in their home opener, they will have a fresh start. They need to find a way to stick to their running game. I say this because it will tire out the defense. By doing that it also opens up the aerial attack.

LA connected well in the air and struggled on the ground. They need to find a nice balance. Also, the defense needs to find a way to keep their offense on the field to score. Additionally, the defense needs to capitalize on turnovers and score. This because there a few players out with injury and that leans in favor to Miami.
