Ranking Vladimir Guerrero and the best Angels’ hitters of all-time
By Jason Reed
1. CF Mike Trout
- .306 BA, 201 HR, 569 RBI, 692 R, 372.7 Off
Well, duh. Baseball fans in the 2010s have been absolutely spoiled. As Barry Bonds, Derek Jeter and the steroid area continued to fizzle into the backround, the MLB needed a new superstar. In stepped Mike Trout, who has already made his case as the best Angel of all-time, is the face of baseball and has serious potential to go down in the five all-time.

What Trout has done in his 925 games played is absolutely incredible. He has already surpassed Vladimir Guerrero in FanGraphs’ WAR, he’s slugged over 200 home runs and plated more than 500 runners. At this pace, we could have a 600 home run, 1500 RBI guy on our hands. With his current pace, Trout will far surpass the 3000 hit milestone.
He is still only 26, by the way. The scary part — Trout is likely only going to get better.
Mike Trout is entering his athletic prime. From 27 to about 31 is when athletes hit their peak, their prime performance. With Trout’s insane athleticism, that peak could last until 33, 34. At the end of his age 31 season, if he stays healthy and hits 40 home runs (which he has already done) he would eclipse 400 home runs. At the end of his age 31 season, Barry Bonds had 292 home runs.
Granted, Bonds’ success came late, however, Mike Trout is only getting a head start. Overall with the Angels, he already ranks:
- Fourth in home runs
- Eighth in RBIs
- Five in Runs
Next: Four Angels that are set to improve in 2018
Trout has not gotten a chance to regress, that is why is off stat is so inflated. However, it is still undeniable that Trout is the best hitter in Angels’ history.
