3. It makes literally no sense to keep Isaiah Thomas around with Lonzo Ball

Isaiah Thomas is going to be really good for the Lakers in the coming weeks, which will likely cloud a lot of fans’ judgment on whether the team should keep Lonzo Ball or IT as their starting point guard moving forward.

Plus, I’ve noticed this in all sports, fans are impatient. I am impatient with my Dodgers and Chargers, Laker fans are impatient with their team as well. If the ultimatum is presented between a guy who could be an all-star in three, four years or a guy who lights it up in LA and seemingly returns to MVP form, fans will want the latter.

However, Ball is the answer for the Lakers at point guard moving forward and they cannot let IT cloud that judgment. Lonzo Ball will be a triple-double machine in just three years, he is already averaging double digits in points and over seven rebounds and assists. The kid is going to be special.

Thomas will have fun while Ball is injured but the second that he comes back the tension and confusion will start to rise. Thomas has to move to the bench behind Lonzo, moving perhaps Josh Hart to starting shooting guard.

While Thomas did come off of the bench in his first game, he got significantly more minutes behind Hart as he would behind Ball. Despite Ball’s height, the two can’t be on the court together, that causes massive match up issues.

Next: Why LA should avoid Kawhi Leonard

Re-signing Isaiah Thomas would almost cause more of a headache than it would a better team. For that, the Lakers need to avoid him.
