The Anaheim Ducks come into the desert playing their best hockey of late while the Coyotes come off a tough home loss.

Anaheim defeated the Dallas Stars 2-0 on Wednesday night at the Honda Center. In doing so, they went on their first four game winning streak of the season. The Ducks looked much like they did in Vegas on Monday as they locked down forwards defensively and had great positioning throughout.

Although they were out-shot 41-17 by the Stars, the Ducks held on thanks to backup goaltender Ryan Miller. Miller faced numerous scoring chances and an extended 5 on 3 penalty kill due to 3 Ducks penalties in a row within 2 minutes.

Miller has not allowed a goal in the last 80 minutes he has played.

Ryan Getzlaf scored a short-handed goal and added an assist in the win. He has 3 points in the last two games. Hampus Lindholm scored the other goal on the power play and has 3 points in the last 3 games.

On the other side, the Coyotes come off a tough home loss on Thursday pnight 5-2 to the Calgary Flames. This put an end to their 4 game winning streak.

Antti Raanta made 33 saves on 38 shots, but could not overcome the Flames as they scored 5 times in a row after giving up the first goal. Raanta had been playing strong as he had won his last 3 starts.

Alternate captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson has 5 points in his last 3 games, and the Coyotes will need as much scoring as possible to have a chance at defeating the Ducks.

Both teams have met each other twice this season at Honda Center and the Ducks have come away both times with wins: 5-4, and 5-2.

In each of the games, the Ducks have scored 5 goals and Rickard Rakell has been a key reason of the high scoring output. He has 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists) against the Coyotes, including the game winner on opening night.

Alex Goligoski leads Arizona in points for the series with 4 (all assists).

One area where the Coyotes have had a success in this series is the power play. They have converted 4 out of 8 chances on the man advantage. On the other hand, the Ducks have yet to convert as they are 0 out of 5.

The probable starter for the Ducks will be Ryan Miller, as John Gibson is still out with a lower body injury. There is no timetable for his return.

Raanta is the probable starter for the Coyotes as he looks to rebound from the loss against Calgary with new trade acquisition Darcy Kuemper likely as his backup.
