Best Lakers super team:

  • Starting five: Lonzo Ball, Paul George, Brandon Ingram, LeBron James, Julius Randle (with Kyle Kuzma as the sixth-man).

The writing is kind of on the wall for an eventual LeBron James-Paul George tandem and it very well could wind up happening on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report just did an excellent piece on if the Lakers can get George, James and keep Randle. While this would require pay cuts from both superstars, winning a championship may outweigh the financial gain. Plus, moving to LA is going to add inevitable endorsement money and jersey sales to the mix; something that can outweigh the loss of salary.

So yes, I do think LA can run with that trio. LeBron and George teaming up in LA has been the biggest of the Lakers rumors and overlapped NBA All-Star Weekend. All signs are pointing towards this superstar teammate, down to the moves the Lakers have made.

And my goodness would this team be incredible.

As Lonzo Ball, Bradon Ingram and Julius Randle progress this team will only get scarier. Sure, they are a little on the short side, but the Lakers could very well field a starting five full of all-stars.

Plus, this takes weight off of LeBron’s shoulders as he enters the final chapter of his career. LeBron is still able to carry a team at an elite level despite being 33 years old. However, as his career progresses, it is understandable that LeBron would want to lessen that burden.

Thus, him and Lonzo Ball could serve as the distributing players on the team. James will likely still lead the team in scoring, but the looks and opportunities would be easier. Paul George and Brandon Ingram can be spot-up shooters and take the majority of the isolations.

LeBron would fit perfectly into the culture that Lonzo Ball has created in LA. This team would pass the ball, pass it a lot and each get their own look. When you have four guys that can score 30 at any given night, you are a title-contending team.
