The Los Angeles Dodgers may have taken the series against the Washington Nationals but our Dodgers Beat the Streak still needs some work.

A series win over the Washington Nationals was a huge relief for fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers that were concerned with the team’s slow start. While there is still some ground to be made up after a slow start, winning two out of three games against a likely playoff foe is huge this early in the season.

The Dodgers secured the two victories by a combined 8-3 score. Hyun-Jin Ryu tossed a gem in game two of the series for seven shutout frames. In the series finale, the Dodgers completed a three-run comeback to win 4-3.

However, the series was rather unforgiving for our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak Series.

Sunday’s picks:

On Sunday I went with a bit of a strange pick for this series, selecting Chase Utley to be my guy to reel in a base knock. Typically, we narrow our choices down only to the elite hitters on the Dodgers. Utley no longer falls in that category, yet a big hit late in the game was calling to me.

That ultimately did not happen, as Utley went 0-3 with a strikeout.

As for Sarah, she selected Matt Kemp. Kemp did not see any playing time on Sunday with Joc Pederson serving as the left fielder. Thus, Sarah’s streak remains exactly where it started.

Sarah’s pick (Current streak: 0): Yasmani Grandal

More from LA Sports Hub

My pick for today is Yasmani Grandal. He’s been great lately for the Dodgers and I totally expect that to keep going. Yesterday he came in clutch for LA in a big win over Washington.

Another reason I’m choosing Grandal is because of who’s on the mound; Walker Buehler. Though Barnes is a great catcher I think that Roberts will have Grandal catch the rookie since he’s more experienced (not to mention his pitch framing is stellar.)

Grandal is becoming a true leader of this team, and if he keeps hitting like he has been the past week, the Dodgers will find themselves with an advantage unlike any other.

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Matt Kemp

The Dodgers are facing some strong opposition in Yarlin Garcia, who owns a 0.86 ERA thus far this season. The southpaw has been missing bats and had a no-hit bid earlier in the season. Although he has been throwing good, though, a veteran Dodgers offense may capitalize on his inexperience.

There is no better veteran Dodger bat to kickstart my streak than Matt Kemp. Prior to resetting, I was 8-8 in my Beat the Streak picks. I am confident that Kemp breaks away from the giant goose egg and allow me to make yet another run.

Next: Why Kawhi to LA must happen

In my head, I am picturing a laced line drive with some series topspin down the left field line for a double. Kemp has the favorable left-hander on right-hander matchup, so all he must do now is find a pitch he likes and unload. It is a lot easier said than done, though.
