Damon Webb, S, Ohio State

Despite putting together a pretty solid season in his last year at Ohio State, scouts do not seem to be sold on Damon Webb heading into the 2018 NFL Draft.

More from LA Sports Hub

The biggest area of concern around Webb is his size and overall athleticism. While it was enough to get by in the college game, the increased size, speed and physicality could give Webb problems in the NFL. At five-foot-eleven and under 200 pounds, Webb does need to add some more weight to reach his full potential in the NFL.

However, where Webb lacks in terms of strength and tackling he makes up in defending the pass. Webb showed a great sense of football IQ at Ohio State and has all the tools to be a ball-hawking safety in the NFL.

Webb fits perfectly in the Chargers’ secondary, who often pick up the scraps left behind from the pass-rush that disrupts quarterback play. Webb probably won’t be an every back safety (although he might have to if Tre Boston does not return) but could be an option in nickel and dime sets.

Webb has a great upside if put in the right defensive system, which probably is that of the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers have a compensatory pick in the seventh-round of the 2018 NFL Draft, which is good for the 251st selection in the draft. We could not find a realistic, perfect, fit for the Chargers that late in the draft.
