3. S Jahleel Addae

Jahleel Addae has been a great and consistent safety for the Los Angeles Chargers for five seasons now. The Chargers signed Jahleel Addae as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 NFL Draft. Addae was handed the starting safety role in 2015 and has not looked back since acquiring it.

More from LA Sports Hub

The Los Angeles Chargers have one of the best secondaries in all of football, that is no secret. Casey Hayward is a top-five corner in the league and Jason Verrett has the potential to be a top-10 corner in the league when he is healthy. Desmond King and Trevor Williams play huge roles and 2018 first-round draft pick, Derwin James, is immensely talented and fits right in.

With all of the star power and intrigue around the other guys, Addae is often left out of the conversation. He does not have the same flashy interceptions as the other guys, in fact, he did not have a single interception last season.

However, he is still a very important piece of a puzzle that may not function without him. While the other defensive backs all serve as ballhawks that can intercept passes at a frequent rate, Addae serves as the hard-hitting safety that can stop plays from extending.

Addae led the entire team in tackles with 66 solo tackles and 30 assisted tackled last season. Out of all safeties in the NFL, Addae ranked seventh in total tackles. The only other safety to record 60 or more solo tackles and 30 or more assisted tackles was Pro Bowler Keanu Neal on the Falcons.

I don’t think the common fan realized how good Addae really was for the Los Angeles Chargers last season. Not only was he the best tackler on a team that struggled to tackle, he was one of the best tacklers in the entire NFL.
