Los Angeles Clippers: Potential trade suitors for DeAndre Jordan
By Jason Reed
3. Dallas Mavericks
DeAndre Jordan nearly joined the Dallas Mavericks three years ago. After becoming an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career, the idea of returning home to Dallas for a big contract was polarizing Jordan. So much so that it took Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, J.J. Redick and Doc Rivers to convince Jordan otherwise.
Obviously, Jordan came back to keep Lob City intact. The trio ultimately never made it past the second round of the NBA Playoffs and now Jordan is the only one left standing.

It would be the perfect time for Jordan to finally have the homecoming to the Dallas Mavericks that probably should have happened three years ago.
This one does not make as much sense for the Dallas Mavericks as it does for the Los Angeles Lakers or the Milwaukee Bucks. In fact, I would go out on a limb and say it would be bad for the Mavericks to trade for Jordan at this stage of the franchise.
Knowing Mark Cuban, though, if the Mavericks get a chance to obtain Jordan for a cheap price they will jump all over it. Jordan can be stubborn, telling the Los Angeles Clippers to either trade him to the Mavericks to receive minimal compensation or let him walk entirely.
While that may not work as the team would have to take contracts in return, if it does, the Mavs can land Jordan for fairly cheap. The Clippers and Mavericks can swap expiring deals in Jordan and Wesley Matthews, with the Mavericks adding in a future protected first-round pick.

Again, this trade does not make sense that much on paper. However, you can never rule out DeAndre Jordan’s hometown team as a potential suitor.
