3.) Chances are the Dodgers are going to be making some moves soon. Who from the roster would you trade, and who would you want in return?

Jason:

It depends on the route of the season. If the team is losing and the playoffs are out of question, trading any valuable expiring contract is important. If that means Yasiel Puig, Yasmani Grandal or Logan Forsythe so be it. Matt Kemp might be an option. Regardless, the Dodgers may need to get something.

If the team somehow turns it around this season pitching is the obvious need. The pitching staff is a lot thinner than some realize with Kershaw’s health concerns, Ryu’s long-term injury and Hill’s constant battle with finger problems.

Jamaal:

Might need to trade Puig, as popular as he is with the fans he is the one veteran contract that’s cheap and flexible. That and the glut in the outfield makes him the most expendable. I’m not saying they should do it, but no one else on the roster makes sense right now.

Redan:

I don’t think the Dodgers need to make moves right away. But I do think the Dodgers will need players like Yasiel Puig to step up. He has only a .200 batting average and is performing below expectations.

I would only start making moves if I know that the season is a lost cause or if I feel good about my team and believe they really need a push. If the Dodgers want a move that is positive for their current season, they need to start showing that they are better than their on-field performance. If not, I would not be surprised if they become a seller sooner rather than later.

Sarah:

As much as I would hate to see any Dodger go, I think that Kyle Farmer or Ross Stripling are most likely to get traded, should it come to that. I think the biggest needs for the Dodgers right now are a power bat in the lineup as well as a strong setup man.

I think the best setup man/closer, at this point, is Brad Hand, but I highly doubt the Padres would trade within the NL West.

The Dodgers, though virtually unrecognizable now, are not lost. Justin Turner and Logan Forsythe will be back, in all likelihood, on this upcoming road trip. Clayton Kershaw is not far behind them, and Hyun-Jin Ryu could be back on the mound by the trade deadline.

I keep thinking that maybe the Dodgers lost the World Series last season because their season was so monumental. The Dodgers could have won the World Series last year, they were good enough too, but they didn’t.

Looking at them now, they don’t look like a World Series team, not in the slightest. So maybe this is their chance to prove that they deserve to be in the World Series again, and win it because they spent the entire season overcoming obstacles.

The 2004 Red Sox were 10.5 games back on August 15th. Still, they managed to win the wild card and defeat the New York Yankees in the playoffs to make it to, and win, the World Series.

And may we never forget who got that whole rally started in the first place.
