3. His play forces the Lakers to trade one of his teammates

Danny Green might be one of the best three and D guys in the league but he is not the only three and D guy on the Los Angeles Lakers. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also fits that mold as well as Avery Bradley, who could be a surprising asset for the Lakers this season.

Having too much depth is never a bad thing but the Lakers certainly could trim down that portion of the roster and make additions elsewhere. As Green thrives in 2019 with his new team, it is going to open the door for the Lakers to trade one of his teammates.

That teammate will likely be Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who is entering his third year with the team.

The Lakers are not going to get some incredible return out of KCP but they could include him in a trade to either build draft pick stock for upcoming drafts or even add size to the roster. There will be a need by the trade deadline and Green’s strong play will allow the Lakers to put KCP on the market.

There are injuries and other factors to keep in mind. Perhaps the Lakers need to add an impact point guard, maybe they need to add size if Dwight Howard doesn’t work out or JaVale McGee gets hurt.

It is important to note that KCP can block a trade if he desires, so the Lakers might have to work out a trade with a fellow contender, perhaps in the Eastern Conference, that can fit both team’s needs.

That, or they could sell high on someone such as Avery Bradley. Either way, Green is going to exceed expectations and have a ripple effect that opens other doors.
