8. LAFC plays its first game

On March 4th, 2018 the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) played it’s first regular-season game in franchise history. LAFC’s 1-0 win against the Seattle Sounders was the culmination of a three and a half year journey that started in October of 2014 when Major League Soccer (MLS) awarded Los Angeles a second franchise.

Since entering the MLS LAFC has set all sorts of records making the playoffs in their first season and then winning the Supporters Shield given to the team with the best regular-season record in their second season.

LAFC and the LA Galaxy games have turned into must-see T.V. and the rivalry between LAFC’s record-breaking goalscorer Carlos Vela and the Galaxy’s talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic have made the rivalry the best in LA.

LAFC entering MLS and the LA sports landscape proved to be one of the best moments of the decade.
