One of the Los Angeles Lakers' immediate offseason tasks is finding a new head coach after parting ways with Darvin Ham earlier this month. There's been no shortage of buzz around the search for a next HC, especially as the future of LeBron James hangs over the franchise.

It turns out Los Angeles has wasted no time in getting started on replacing Ham.

The Athletic reports former NBA player and current analyst JJ Redick, New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego and Boston Celtics assistant (as well as ex-NBA player) Sam Cassell have all had initial discussions with LA about the Lakers job.

In addition to this trio, Denver Nuggets assistant David Adelman, Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori and Miami Heat assistant Chris Quinn are all expected to be interviewed in the coming days as well, per The Athletic.

Now, the Lakers will surely leave no stone unturned, so there could be some surprise or well-known names that are connected to the search over the next few weeks. But this early candidate roster clearly shows Los Angeles is looking for someone to bring fresh ideas by not prioritizing veteran HCs.

Borrego, who was initially rumored as a contender for the job along with Redick and Cassell, is the only one among these options with previous head-coaching experience in the NBA. He served as interim HC of the Orlando Magic during the 2014-15 season, then led the Charlotte Hornets for four seasons in a full-time capacity.

It's no surprise the Lakers are looking at some of the most well-run orgs around the league for a potential leader to poach. Denver just won the championship last year, while Minnesota's resurgence has landed the Wolves in the conference finals. Quinn provides plenty of valuable experience as an assistant under the famed Erik Spoelstra, too.

With the wheels already in motion, LA's in a great spot to hire its next bench leader as June approaches.
